Police say the paternal biological grandmother, Cynthia McCleskey-Baldwin, has been charged with first degree cruelty to children, felony cruelty to children and felony murder.
Police are investigating what they label the "suspicious death" of an 11-year-old Macon girl.
On Thursday, police spokeswoman Melanie Hofmann said the girl, Ruth Baldwin, was taken to the urgent care center on Riverside Drive by her grandmother, Cynthia McClesky-Baldwin.
Ruth Baldwin was dead when they arrived at the clinic. Police say her death is being investigated as a suspicious death because there were signs of trauma and neglect.
A police news release says McClesky-Baldwin, 49, was arrested and charged with first-degree cruelty to children -- family violence. She is being held at the Bibb County jail. No bond has been set.
This case is still under investigation. Police say they are not releasing any other information at this time.
