Where to park for Gregg Allman's procession

The footprints of The Allman Brothers Band run deep in Macon. Here are some of the places they've frequented during their amazing run here.

Millions are mourning the loss of music legend Gregg Allman. The private funeral and funeral services will be held in Macon this Saturday at Snow's Memorial Chapel at 1 p.m. The final preparations are underway in Central Georgia.

Fans are asked to line the processional route from Snow's on Cherry Street to the Rose Hill Cemetery on Riverside Drive. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office has parking suggestions for those who will participate.

There's two options.

  • First, you can park at the Old Macon City Central Services, which is an open field in the 800 block of Riverside Drive. That's directly across the street from New Street at Riverside Drive. The second location is a vacant car lot at 1090 Riverside Drive. That's east of Orange Street at Riverside Drive.

  • Also, several roads will be closed due to the private funeral services. Part of Cherry Street will be blocked off. That's from First Street to New Street. First Street will also be closed from Cherry Street North up to Riverside Drive, then up Riverside Drive from First Street West to Orange Street and the Rose Hill Cemetery.
The closures start at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
