Springsteen 'High Hopes' documentary coming to HBO

HBO will chronicle the making of Bruce Springsteen's latest album, High Hopes, in a documentary airing two days before the launch of the singer's North American tour.

Bruce Springsteen's High Hopes will premiere April 4 (9:30 p.m. ET). His U.S. tour begins at Dallas' March Madness Music Festival.

The half-hour documentary from filmmaker Thom Zimny will feature studio and rehearsal footage, as well as interviews with Springsteen and guitarist Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave, who discuss their collaborative choices for the project.

High Hopes, released Jan. 14, sold 99,000 copies in its first week, giving Springsteen his 11th No. 1 on the Billboard albums chart. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album has sold a total of 165,000 to date.

It's the second Springsteen documentary for HBO. The cable channel ran The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town in 2010.
