Cherry Blossom Festival chairman George McCanless announced the selection of Jake Ferro as the interim president and CEO Monday afternoon.
The announcement comes less than a week after Richard Brewer resigned after 4 months on the job. Festival officials say that Brewer resigned to return to Charleston, South Carolina where his family lives.
According to 2013 Festival Chair Cyndey Busbee, Ferro has a long standing relationship with the Festival. Ferro has a background in the cement and kaolin industries. He was also President and CEO of Bonsal American, Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before that, Ferro was President and Corporate Vice-President of J.M. Huber Corporation in Macon.
