The new Facebook timeline lets users scroll through years of posts, pictures, and events, but many people have mixed feelings about the site's new look.
Cherie Mock posted on the 13WMAZ Facebook page, "Most people don't like change. I didn't like it at first, but it's growing on me. After a few months you won't be able to remember what it looked like before."
Other people like Katie Stanley think all of the timeline's bells and whistles can be confusing. Stanley posted, "I don't have it yet, but some of my friends do. And I don't like posting on their pages any longer. It is so confusing. I don't know that I will stay with Facebook when I am forced to change."
Meredith Chin with the Facebook Production Team hopes people will learn to like all of the site's new features. She says, "People have invested a lot of time into facebook, whether it's photo uploads or trips that they've traveled on. Prior to this, there was no easy way to get back to those memories. So, timeline is a way to rediscover those moments."
One of the new features of the timeline is a cover picture across the top of your profile. Chin says the large picture is just one way users can add personal touches to their profiles.
Chin says the timeline layout gives people more control over what posts they share with friends. The activity log feature allows users to choose what events, tags, and pictures people can see.
People can also make certain posts more prominent on the page by using the star feature.
Facebook gives each user one week from the day their site switches over to timeline before it will be visible to the public. Chin says every user will have the timeline layout within the next few weeks.
