The Holiday Travel period officially starts on Friday and more Americans plan to hit the road this year. The American Auto Association predicts that there will be nearly 92 million Americans traveling 50 miles or more during the holidays.
For Groome Transportation on Sheraton Drive in Macon, this means big business.
Groome's Director Laura McConnell said they have increased the number of shuttles to accommodate the increase in customers during this travel period this year.
"Since we don't take reservations, we have to make sure that if one shuttle fills, we have another driver and another van ready to go immediately behind it," said McConnell.
Some travelers at Groome said that taking a shuttle makes traveling over the holidays a little less stressful.
"Because it's more convenient as far as the gas," said Turquoise Blue of Dublin. "You don't have to do the traveling on the road. "
McConnell said because there was a greater demand this year that they will be open on Christmas Day for the first time, and they will have limited service. For more information, call 1-800-537-7903.
