A crowd gathered at the Bibb County Court House Tuesday morning to hear from some Central Georgia attorneys...not for a trial, but for a tribute to a moment in our nation's history.

On the eve of our country's birthday, lawyers and judges honored our Founding Fathers by reading the Declaration of the Independence.

Lawyers including Mike Cranford, Greg Winters, and Max Wood took turns reading parts of the historic letter in front of the court house.

Cranford said seeing the D.A.and defense attorneys come together for this event showed they share the same values when it comes to love of country.

"The public looks at lawyers as adversaries to each other and we are," he explained. "We are sometimes on different sides of the table, but at the end of the day we come together and we all seek the same thing, and that is justice."

Cranford organized the event after hearing about a similar reading in Texas.
