Girl told she wouldn't talk, now a singing sensation

BUFFALO, NY - When Amber Simone Chinn was at a graduation party, she never thought an impromptu video recording of her singing would go viral. It did.

Amber Simone, 19, was captured poolside singing a song by Jhene Aiko. A friend's mom shared it on Facebook and YouTube and there are over two million views.

"It's hard to grasp," Amber said. "I have confidence, but I never thought me sitting by the pool, a random video would be so viral."

Amber's story is interesting considering she was born with a birth defect called Left Craniosynostosis. After a surgery at the age of six months, her parents were told she would probably never talk.

She calls it a miracle that she was able to start breathing on her own and avoid having a tracheotomy. "I wouldn't be able to have a voice at all, I wouldn't be able to sing at all," she said.

Now she's singing around town and working with local music producers and songwriters Robert Herrod Jr. also known as "Carolinah Blu" and Damon "Dame Digital" Powell. Powell calls Amber's voice "awesome. This is a talent and given her back story, about her health condition, if that's not god telling you to let the world hear you, what else is."
