Meet Clara Guyton, Dublin
Age: I’m going to let you guess my age
Occupation: Owner, operator of Claire’s U-Neek Boutique in downtown Dublin for 11 and a half years
What is your connection to Central Georgia?
I was born and raised here in Central Georgia. I raised my three children here in Georgia, but I worked the whole time that I was raising my children. I was working at Belk and that’s where I got the vision of owning my own lady’s boutique from Belk here in Dublin. I left Belk and I went to work for Wachovia Bank and that’s where I retired. I got the basics from those two jobs to teach me a lot about owning my own boutique. The financial part of it and the retail part of it.
Who/what is the biggest influence in your life?
Well, my children are one of the biggest influences in my life. I have three children. I have two boys and a girl.
Why would you say they are the biggest influences in your life?
Because we learn from one another. I know I’m older, but I learned a lot from the kids as they were growing up. We learn from each other.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned (or advice) that you’d like to share with others?
The biggest lesson that I’ve learned in my life is when you have a vision, you need to go for it. That’s what I did. I never give up on my vision, and that’s what brought me to where I am today.
Life-changing/significant moment in your life?
I’m not sure of the biggest significant thing that I’ve had in my life, but just growing older gracefully. I’m enjoying my life as I grow older.
What are your hobbies/what do you do in your free time?
I can’t say that I have a lot of free time, but one of my hobbies are singing. I do a lot of work in the church; I enjoy doing that, and I love to travel. Although, I don’t get a lot of travel time in because of my job, but I’m going to do so sooner or later.
