SCAD students channel Matthew, turn 'storm into an artistic brainstorm'

SAVANNAH, Ga. -- After a smooth and successful evacuation in the wake of Hurricane Matthew, SCAD Students arrived in Atlanta eager to create and give back.

The students helped design a painted mural to be used as a theater backdrop for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and delivered it to the facility on Tuesday. The university's president, Paula Wallace was also present for the presentation.

According to the school, more than 1,500 students evacuated from the Savannah campus to escape Matthew.

"SCAD students were able to turn a storm into an artistic brainstorm," a representative for the school said. "It’s times like these that we really see SCAD as one university, with four campuses -- a trait uniquely SCAD."
