Macon mayor Robert Reichert and state senator Cecil Staton joined Randall Savage to discuss the recent passing of the Macon-Bibb consolidation bill in both the Georgia House and Senate. Once the bill is signed by Governor Deal, Macon and Bibb county residents can vote on the bill on July 31.
Staton says that the consolidation is not a "panacea" to cure everything but a union that makes the county and city governments more responsive and cost-effective.
Mayor Reichert urges everyone to read the bill and consider the benefits of consolidation, which he says will be obvious after reading the bill.
