Girl found safe more than a year after disappearance

Amber Thompson was 16 when she went missing from her home

CALDWELL, ID -- A Caldwell girl who had been missing for more than a year has been found safe, police said Wednesday night.

Amber Thompson was 16 when she went missing from her home Sept. 14, 2016. Investigators said at the time that she may have traveled elsewhere in Idaho, or to Las Vegas.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, along with Caldwell Police, renewed their plea to reunite Amber with her family in September, on the one-year mark of her disappearance.

Police announced that Amber had been found on their Facebook page. Authorities have not released details about where she was located, or the circumstances surrounding her departure.
