A look back at Oprah Winfrey's 2007 visit to Macon

Ten years ago, Oprah Winfrey taped a special show at the Macon City Auditorium and surprised hundreds of people by revealing her list of "favorite things."

On November 17, 2007, Oprah Winfrey packed up her Chicago TV studio and flew down south.

"In Macon, at any given time, when the Oprah Winfrey Show is on, at least half the television sets are watching the Oprah Winfrey Show. So out of all the places in the United States, this is the number one city for people watching the Oprah show," said Winfrey.

Oprah rewarded her faithful viewers, revealing her "favorite things" list during the taping at the Macon City Auditorium. She sent everyone in the audience home with a long list of gifts ranging from refrigerators, to clothes, to video cameras.

"I've been on cloud nine," said Milton Miller. He attended the taping after receiving a personal ticket from Oprah. "We all lost our minds. We were jumping, crying, going crazy."

Miller says Oprah dropped by his house on Vineville Avenue after he put a yard sign out front asking her to stop in. That's when she gave him a ticket to the show. He says meeting Oprah influenced him to "live his best life."

"She just kind of inspired me to want better, to do better, and just, again, have life with purpose and meaning and have life with passion," says Miller.

It's a passion that's influenced people around the world.
