G-Day 2018: What you need to know

G-Day 2018 is this Saturday and anticipation is building to see the team for the first time since the National Championship Game

Do you bleed red and black? Are you planning on going to 2018’s G-Day game?

Here’s what you’ll need to know…

1. The game is FREE

  • No, seriously. The annual spring preview game is free, and who couldn’t pass up a chance to see Kirby Smart and the rest of the team for the first time since January’s national title game?

2. The game starts at 4 p.m. but there are other game day traditions beforehand

  • As someone who has been to this event for several years, campus is going to be packed and you’ll want to get there early. Gates open at 1 p.m., pregame festivities begin at 1:15 p.m. and Dawg Walk starts at 2:50 p.m.

3. Entrance into Sanford will be different this year due to high demand and construction

  • The stadium usually fills up and there is reduced seating now due to construction on the West End Zone. Therefore, UGA is implementing a pass system to manage the crowds. Gates 2-9 will be open as usual, Gate 10 will not be open. The university asks that you enter on the side of the stadium where you prefer to be seated, and your pass will say which section you are assigned.

4. Only clear bags are allowed in Sanford Stadium

  • If you’re bringing anything inside Sanford, it must be inside a clear vinyl bag, Ziploc bag, or small clutch purse. Backpacks, diapers bags and large purses are NOT allowed.

5. It will be televised and available online!

  • If you can’t make it to the Classic City, ESPN has you covered. It will also be available to stream on WatchESPN and on the radio at 95.5FM and AM 750 WSB

6. The weather will be niiiiice.

  • There is currently a 0% chance of rain and it will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s.

Have fun and GO DAWGS!
