Man shot multiple times during attempted robbery in Macon

A man is in the hospital, shot multiple times during an attempted robbery.

A man was shot multiple times during an attempted robbery in Macon early Tuesday morning.

According to Sergeant Clay Williams with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, 52-year-old Lewis Williams of Macon was walking near the intersection of Hendley Street and Roff Avenue just before 5a.m., when he was approached by three men in a red sports car. The men asked Williams for money. When Williams said he didn't have any money, the men began shooting.

Williams suffered gunshot wounds to the back, right arm and left leg. He was transported to Navicent Health, where he's listed in stable condition. No one else was injured.
