Skydog 71 benefit concert collects cans for those in need this Thanksgiving

An annual benefit concert in memory of Duane Allman had people from all over central Georgia jamming out at Central City Park on Sunday.

This event had live music, merchandise and people nodding their heads to the tunes.

Kyler Mosely, the emcee and event organizer for Skydog 71, says this is their twelfth year of putting on the event and each year they ask guests to bring 10 canned food items to be donated to families in need for Thanksgiving.

This year the concert also honored another Allman Brothers Band founding member, the late Barry Oakley.

"Barry really believed in folks getting together and helping each other people. On his grave site it says 'help thy brother's boat across and lo! Thine own has reached the shore!' We take that very literally and try to do something for the community and have a good time doing it," said Mosely

Last year they raised 7,000 pounds of food for the Rescue Mission, and this year they hope to raise more.
