Two Monroe Co. teens arrested after attack at 9th grade campus

Two Monroe County teens are in jail after they allegedly attacked a student leaving school Thursday.

Sgt. Lawson Bittick with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office says the pair attacked a 15-year-old student who was leaving the ninth grade campus of the high school off Brooklyn Avenue.

Bittick says the student was leaving early after an exam around 12:45 p.m. when a red truck pulled up and someone hit him in the head from behind -- possibly with a weapon.

Bittick says Jacob Curry, 17, attacked the teen. He is charged with battery and criminal trespass.

Bittick says Andrew Clark, also 17, was driving the truck. He is charged with being a party to the crime of battery and criminal trespass.

Both are in the Monroe County Jail.

The victim went to the hospital and was treated for a cut over his right eye, scrapes, and bruises.

So far, there is no word on any motive for the attack.

According to assistant superintendent Jackson Daniel, Curry and Clark are former, but not current Monroe County students.
