Frankly Speaking: Don't fret over spring football

Spring football games shouldn't give fans reason to worry.

Spring Football has come and gone -- at least on the college field -- and it's time now for months of dissection and discussion about what happened and what is to come.

If you think people don't really care about Spring Games, you may want to re-think that.

Both Georgia and Nebraska packed over 80,000 people into the seats for their spring games.

Alabama and Penn State drew 70,000-plus, and Tennessee wasn't far behind.

I get it -- a lot of people love college football and they'll show up whenever it's time for their team to play.

No problem with that. I do have a problem when I hear people say their team didn't look good in the spring game and they're worried about what's going to happen in the fall.

Please -- a spring game is exactly that -- a game between players on the same team played in the spring.

Nothing more.

This time last year, Georgia fans were excited watching Jacob Eason launch passes down the field in the Spring Game.

We all know what happened in the fall. Eason went down in Game 1, Jake Fromm took over, and the Bulldogs came within an eyelash of winning a National Championship..

The point -- what happens in April is in no way indicative of what will happen in September, so relax.

Enjoy a little time away from the game and save your worrying for the fall when the games actually count.
