Metro Atlanta could see some strong, isolated thunderstorms moving into the area later Thursday afternoon.

Here is a timeline of what to expect:

The biggest threats with these thunderstorms will be strong, gusty winds and possible hail. Most of Georgia will be in the "marginal risk" area for severe storms which is a level one out of five. This means there will be a very low rise for a chance for isolated and strong thunderstorms.

During the evening hours, the area of low pressure will move through. This will be our secondary surge of rain with some thunderstorms. It won't be widespread, but there could still be some isolated storms that have the potential to turn severe. This low will have some upper level support and cold temperatures at the upper levels. This would increase our hail threat in some of those isolated storms. There is also the potential for strong winds. The tornado risk is low.

The system moves to the east late evening. Then we begin the drying out process for Friday and the weekend.
