The job market is looking brighter in Central Georgia this holiday season, with unemployment numbers dropping in metro Macon and Houston County.
A Georgia Department of Labor news release says the unemployment rate dropped six-tenths of a percentage point in November to 9.4 percent. In October, it sat at ten percent. One year ago, the jobless rate was 10.3 percent.
The Macon figure includes Bibb, Crawford, Jones, Monroe, and Twiggs counties.
The release shows a similar pattern in Houston County, where the jobless rate declined five-tenths of a percentage point in November. It's now at 7.2 percent, compared to a year ago, when it was 7.8 percent.

The jobless rate is down statewide too. It declined from 10.2 percent in October to 9.9 percent in November, representing the largest drop for the state in thirty-four years.
