$7.5 million lottery winner plans for three months before claiming prize

ATLANTA - A Dallas, Georgia woman has claimed her money after winning $7,500,000 in the Georgia Lottery.

Christina Ford is one of two winners from the $15 million jackpot on July 22. She claimed her prize Tuesday. The second ticket that shared the $15 million jackpot prize was purchased in Virginia.

“I thought it was a dream,” she said. “I kept saying, ‘Yeah, right. This can’t be true.’ ”

Ford bought the Quik Pik ticket at trip to the Kroger on Dallas Acworth Highway.

She said she waited three months to come forward because she wanted to make plans for what to do with the money, according to lottery officials. 

She told Georgia Lottery officials she plans to use her winnings to vacations and share with her family.

The winning numbers from that drawing were, 8-24-25-26-30, and the Mega Ball was 7.

According to the Ga. Lottery Corp., Since its first year, they have returned more than $17.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program.
