Accused shooter Germany Ray
Macon police say they've arrested three teenagers in the Oct. 27 fatal shooting of Vishnu Patel.
Police say the three were arrested Tuesday.
All three -- 18-year-old Germany Ray, 17-year-old Quentin Hodges and 18-year-old Bershard Causey -- are all charged with felony murder.
Police say they believe Ray is the one who shot Patel.
Three men robbed Patel and two other store employees as they left the Sprint Foods Store at 3911 Napier Ave. Police said one of the robbers shot Patel several times when he took too long to get out of a van.
Tehuti Wah, who sells clothing across the street from Sprint Foods, says Patel was a nice guy who was willing to help others.
"I just wish that it didn't have to be," Wah said. "I just wish that he still was alive."
Tavieus Williams lives in the neighborhood and says he feels safer knowing police made an arrest. He says he wants police to do more to reduce crime.
"The area got so bad, police barely come around here," Williams said.
Macon Police say they've charged two of the teens in connection with other crimes.
"I think we're going to see a decrease in violence on the street with the arrest of these two, these three," Macon Police Major Charles Stone said.
Germany Ray is also charged with two counts of criminal attempt to commit murder in a Nov. 14 double shooting outside the Scarlett Carson's nightclub in west Bibb County.
According to police, Ray faces one count of aggravated assault for a shooting at Macon Gardens on Nov. 2. Police also charged Hodges with aggravated assault in the Macon Gardens incident.
According to a news release Wednesday evening, police arrested 21-year-old Terrance Dent and charged him with hindering apprehension of a felon, (Germany Ray), and violation of superior court probation.
Causey and Ray are now being held without bail in the Bibb County jail; police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet said Hodges is in the Crawford County jail.
