The GBI on Tuesday arrested the ex-wife of the Telfair County sheriff and accused her of conspiring to kill him.
That's according to Greg Harvey, special agent in charge of the GBI's Eastman office.
He said 39-year-old Shaylon Grimsly was arrested at her home on North Jackson Street in Helena.
Harvey says Telfair Sheriff Johnny Smith got a tip that she was trying to kill him and turned the case over to the GBI.
He would not discuss details of the case, except to say Grimsly is charged with criminal solicitation to commit murder.
Harvey says she also faces a forgery charge in an unrelated case.
She is now in the Irwin County jail.
