John Boyer joined the 13WMAZ weather team in June of 2011. You can catch his forecasts on Weekend Mornin', and Eyewitness News at 6 and 11 on Saturdays and Sundays. When skies turn dark, he'll join Ben Jones and David Ernst for coverage of severe weather. John also enjoys working behind the scenes to create new graphics and dig up interesting facts about the weather history of Central Georgia.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in meteorology at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. John interned with WRAL-TV and assisted with the award-winning coverage of North Carolina's largest tornado outbreak.
John's television career began during high school, running the cameras at WSLS in Roanoke, Virginia. During college, he returned twice to intern with the newsroom and weather center. He'd frequently venture into Tarheel territory to deliver forecasts on "Carolina Week" at the University of North Carolina. Indie music fans across the Research Triangle may remember him as the voice of newscasts and public affairs shows on WKNC-FM.
John grew up near Roanoke along the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains. He is enjoying the incredible food and friendly people here in Central Georgia. You can follow him on Facebook and Twitter for weather updates. He's always interested in answering your questions, too!
