The pet store at the Macon Mall, Petland, reopened for the first time in several months. Recent renovations to the mall forced the pet store to temporarily close its doors.
With a new face and a new location, the store is now ready for business.
As part of the grand reopening, kids got to see and hold some of the animals.
They also met Petland's new mascots the hamsters, Sammy and Tammy.
Donna Brown with the Macon Mall says seeing kids interact with the animals made her day.
"The best part of today has been all the children coming in and seeing their faces getting excited being able to touch the animals, being to love on them," said Brown. "And the parents getting excited, it has just been a wonderful wonderful day."
Kids also dressed up as their favorite animals and paraded some of the pets around the mall.
