An inmate at Macon State Prison has died from undisclosed causes.
Department of Corrections spokeswoman Gwendolyn Hogan confirmed Tuesday that a Macon State inmate had died and that the Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating.
But Hogan declined to disclose additional information about the inmate including his name and when and how he died.
That's the second time in two weeks that DOC officials have declined to release information about an inmate.
Two weeks ago, inmate Philip Mincey walked away from his work-release program and was on the lam for several days before he was captured.
Mincey had been sentenced to life after being convicted of murder in Dodge County.
At the time of the escape, DOC officials declined to disclose details such as where Mincey was assigned to his work release program, who released him to work release and whether Mincey would be charged with escape for walking away from the program.
