The Macon Bibb Fire Department is investigating a video that shows an apparent hoax shooting at one of its stations.

That's according to Clay Murphey, the mayor's spokesman.

He says the video was posted to YouTube and shows a prank that was reportedly staged on firefighters Sunday at Fire Station 108. That's on Peake Road.

Murphey says the chief recognized several of the firefighters in the video, including a captain, and believes it is authentic.

It shows a masked man entering the fire station and people hitting the floor as the man seems to fire shots. The gunman grabs one firefighter off the floor and drags him across the room and off camera.

The video lasts just over a minute.

At the end, it rolls a list of credits. Murphey says all of the names are employees of the fire department.

On YouTube, the video is titled "MBCFD rookie prank."

Versions of the video were posted to Youtube and a firefighters' web site, then taken down Monday morning, then reposted. The video includes "credits" listing firefighters who were allegedly involved.

Murphey says Fire Chief Marvin Riggins just saw the video for the first time Monday morning and will investigate.

He says they won't comment further. Riggins could not be reached for comment and, at Fire Station 108, Battalion Commander Preston Thomas Jr. referred questions to the chief.
