UPDATE: At 8 p.m. Tuesday night, the GDOT reopened two lanes of I-75 south. But the Department of Transportation notes that from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday morning, workers will be removing and replaced damaged concrete slabs and urge drivers to remain cautious during these repairs.
A tractor trailer accident and fire has blocked traffic on Interstate 75 in Dooly County.
That's according to Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kimberly Larson.
She says the fire is south of Exit 121, near Unadilla.
Larson says all southbound lanes are currently blocked, and traffic is being rerouted through the rest area at mile marker 118.
GDOT is urging drivers to avoid the area because traffic is backed up and the alternative routes are getting crowded.
Larson says the department is looking to see whether the roadway was damaged.
