JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A Georgia man has been convicted of fatally stabbing a Jacksonville Navy wife he met on Craigslist while her husband was out to sea.
A Duval County jury found 20-year-old David Kelsey Sparre guilty Friday of first-degree murder.
Authorities say Sparre was at the 21-year-old Tiara Pool's apartment in July 2010. The two had sex, and Sparre later stabbed Pool at least 80 times with a kitchen knife.
The Florida Times-Unions reports that Sparre's attorney had argued for second-degree murder. He said Sparre snapped after learning Pool was married with two young sons, who had been staying out-of-town with family.
The jury that found Sparre guilty of premeditated murder will next decide whether to recommend life in prison or the death penalty. A judge will make the final decision.
