Macon police arrested three men on New Years Eve after hearing gunfire in an area off Bloomfield Road.

Police spokeswoman Jami Gaudet says Saturday night officers heard shots coming from 2828 Bob O Link Drive and saw several people standing outside.

She says when officers walked up to the group, several of them ran inside the house and others ran around it.

Gaudet says officers surrounded the house. She says when they went inside they found 13 firearms, including shotguns, an assault pistol, a revolver, and semi-automatic pistols.

Gaudet says several of the weapons were stolen. She says officers also found a book bag of fully loaded assault rifle magazines.

Gaudet says police arrested Anthony Hodges, 31, Eric Watkins Jr., 25, and Johntellis Montez Mathis, 24.

Hodges was charged with theft by receiving stolen property. Watkins was charged with giving a false name. Mathis was charged with shooting in the city and theft by receiving stolen property.

Gaudet says Hodges and Watkins were released on bond. Mathis remains in the Bibb County jail.
