Country legend Merle Haggard is improving at a Macon hospital from double pneumonia, his publicist said.

Tresa Redburn said his tour manager, Frank Mull, passed along news that Haggard is getting better and got a "good report from the doctors."

She said Haggard is being given antibiotics, and doctors plan to send him home to northern California with oral medications and orders to rest. She does not know when that will happen.

Redburn says Haggard asks fans to send their prayers, not flowers or cards.

Haggard's tour bus is still parked outside The Medical Center of Central Georgia in downtown Macon.

Haggard postponed a Tuesday-concert in Macon, a few minutes after the 7:30 p.m. scheduled start.

Haggard canceled his concert dates for the rest of the month. The Macon City Auditorium show has been rescheduled for April 25.

Redburn said Haggard's next tour dates are scheduled for late February and he expects to be ready.
