THE POLLS OPEN TOMORROW MORNING FOR FLORIDA'S REPUBLICAN VOTERS... AND THE STATE'S PRIMARY COULD BE A TURNING POINT FOR THE REMAINING PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES.
THE BATTLE FOR THE SUNSHINE STATE IS A COMPLICATED ONE FOR THE CANDIDATES.
IN AN ARTICLE TODAY... "POLITICO" CALLED FLORIDA "FIVE STATES IN ONE"
KEY ISSUES INCLUDE: IMMIGRATION TO MIAMI-DADE VOTERS, WHERE THERE'S A BIG CUBAN-BORN POPULATION.
IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA--A HEAVY MILITARY POPULATION, SO DEFENSE ISSUES TAKE CENTER-STAGE.
IN NORTHEAST FLORIDA, THE TEA PARTY INFLUENCE IS STRONG--SO A CANDIDATE WHO'S SOCIALLY CONSERVATIVE MIGHT FARE BETTER.
IN PALM BEACH--ECONOMIC ISSUES ARE KEY, BECAUSE OF MANY PROFESSIONAL AND CORPORATE VOTERS.
POLITICAL ANALYSTS SAY THE I-4 CORRIDOR--INCLUDING TAMPA AND ORLANDO--IS SO BIG AND DIVERSE, IT'S DIFFICULT TO PIN DOWN TO ONE OR TWO ISSUES.
DANIELLE NOTTINGHAM IS IN TAMPA WITH MORE ON HOW THE RACE IS SHAPING UP.
NATS Romney disc 19:02:00

"oh, beautiful for spacious skies..."

Mitt Romney sang to supporters at a rally in Florida Monday Night - one of several last stops before Tuesday's Republican primary.

"With a turnout like this I'm beginning to feel like we might win tomorrow. What do you think?

The latest polls give Romney a double-digit lede over Newt Gingrich - A Suffolk University poll even suggests that lede is as wide as 20 points. .

SOT

"I know the speaker is not real happy. Speaker Gingrich. He's not feeling very excited these days. (crowd: aww) I know, it's sad.

{Pipe 1 Gingrich Town Hall} 14:51:13 This is the most important election in our lifetime

Gingrich campaigned all across the state, with a host conservative friends including former candidate Herman Cain, and Michael Reagan, son of the former president. Gingrich says HE has the best chance at defeating President Obama.

14:51:46 We nominated a moderate in 1996 and he lost. We nominated a moderate in 2008 and he lost. Mitt Romney is more liberal than either of those candidates.

STANDUP BRIDGE: {pipe 2, 192540} Gingrich has been outspent 5-1 by Romney in Florida. Still, his message of consistent conservatism is finding supporters even without million-dollar ads.

Roger Schneider, Clearwater, FL

"I think if we nominate him, he won't turn into something else."

Gingrich and Romney have each won one state. A win in Florida would crown one of them the true frontrunner, and send them into Saturday's Nevada Caucuses with a lot of momentum.
NEITHER RICK SANTORUM NOR RON PAUL CAMPAIGNED IN FLORIDA IN DAYS.
INSTEAD... PAUL HAS FOCUSED ON VOTERS IN MAINE... AND SANTORUM CAMPAIGNED IN MISSOURI AND MINNESOTA.
THEY'LL BOTH BE IN COLORADO AND NEVADA DURING TOMORROW'S PRIMARY.

HOUSTON COUNTY'S PERRY PRIMARY SCHOOL HAS EXCELLED UNDER A-Y-P FOR 12 YEARS... BUT PRINCIPAL ELGIN MAYFIELD SAYS HE'D PREFER THE INDEX... BECAUSE IT'S MORE COMPREHENSIVE.
THE STATE SCHOOLS SUPERINTENDENT SAYS HE EXPECTS TO HEAR FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION THIS WEEK.
HE SAID IF THEY DONT GRANT THE REQUEST, THE STATE WILL STILL USE THE INDEX, BUT IT WILL ALSO USE A-Y-P.
