DECATUR, Ga. (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges in a 2009 wreck that killed three Georgia Power employees.
DeKalb County Solicitor General Sherry Boston says James Miles
pleaded guilty Thursday to vehicular homicide, reckless driving,
following too closely, failure to maintain lane and improper lane
change.
The Dodge Stratus he was driving crashed into a commuter van
carrying nine Georgia Power employees. Three of them died, and the other six were injured.
A judge sentenced Miles to two years in a work release program
and three years of supervised release. He was also ordered to
perform 240 hours of community service, attend three victim impact panels and attend a defensive driving course. The court ordered that his license be suspended for five years.
