A man picked up by Macon police for driving a stolen vehicle stole the police car officers put him in.
According to a police news release, Wednesday afternoon officers spotted a black Jeep reported stolen from Milledgeville.
After a short car chase, officers stopped the suspect and placed him in the back of a patrol car.
While checking the stolen vehicle, the suspect, still in handcuffs, managed to get into the front seat of the patrol car and drive away.
The second chase ended when the suspect crashed the patrol into a guardrail on Oak Haven.
The suspect, 24-year-old Ryan Lee Borders, complained to officers that he had swallowed drugs and needed medical attention. Officers took him to the Medical Center of Central Georgia.
The case is still under investigation.
