Mid Ga. Ambulance Explains Types of Heat Illnesses

Paramedic Andrew Woodward with Mid Georgia Ambulance appeared on Weekend Mornin' talk about heat and its effects on the body.

Woodward says the most common types of heat related illnesses are sunburn, heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. He says heat strokes are the most severe. Woodward says some of symptoms are heat stroke include, rapid pulse, hot dry skin, and in some cases, unconsciousness. He says if you think you are experiencing any of these things you should seek medical attention immediately.

Woodward says a great way to battle these things is to stay hydrated. He also talked about the importance of ice packs and where you could place them to help cool you down.
