About 200 volunteers went around Macon doing home repairs for needy and elderly to help celebrate Forest Hills United Methodist Church 10th annual River of Life mission project.

Volunteers spent July 11th to July 15th painting homes, roofing, and doing carpentry repairs for homes that were selected through an on-going partnership with Rebuilding Macon.

13WMAZ went to one house off of King Street where about 30 volunteers were working.

The owner, Ethel Mae Brown, said that getting her home spruced up had been a dream of hers that she wasn't able to afford to do.

"I don't have words to say. I don't have words to explain how glad I am and how grateful I am, you know, for all of them coming here and doing this for me. Because I know it was God that did it," said Brown.

Volunteers said that they are grateful to help.

"It just feels great, I mean, repainting the houses, seeing the expressions on people's face when they see it all done. And it's priceless, I mean, it really makes you feel good," said Rachael Yung of Jacksonville.

Since 2003, this youth mission has improved more than 330 homes.
