Macon Police Arrest Burglary Suspect

Macon police arrested 32-year-old Maurice Lamar Stewart on burglary charges, after officers responded to a call at Fish Port on Montpelier Avenue just after 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

A store clerk called police after Stewart allegedly broke into the back of the store and stole an undisclosed amount of money from the store safe. He fled with the cash, and no injuries are reported.

Police provided the details in a media release. According to police, Stewart lives on Gordon Street in Macon.

Stewart also faces misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. He is out of jail on $9,750 bond.
