Van VanDeWalker appeared on Eyewitness News at 6 on Wednesday to talk about the current problems facing Bibb County's animal shelter.
He outlined some of the problems facing the animal shelter that led him to submitting his resignation earlier in the week.
He said that the animal shelter can definitely work as a low-kill shelter but that the shelter must be more discriminatory in which animals are picked up.
He continued by saying that even with the added capacity of the new shelter, the open-door policy will still make it difficult for the shelter to function below full capacity.
