State Representative Nikki Randall is asking for civility during this campaign.

During a news conference Tuesday,  Randall she said she has been the subject of some harsh campaign ads through flyers and on the radio.

"I've been the subject of probably the most horrendous flyers that I have ever seen in my political career even when I was a political consultant," said Randall. "I understand that a lot of candidate say well I didn't do it and I didn't know anything about it, well if your campaign folks did it...and your campaign folks don't know what you will accept and what you would like them to do in representing them then you need to get rid of them too."

Her opponent, Gerald Harvey of Macon, also was there. He said that his team wasn't responsible for the flyers.

"Absolutely not, my campaign had nothing to do with that but you know what there is a perception that's out there that believes that," said Harvey. "But my campaign took no part in that distributing or creating that, none whatsoever."

Harvey said that he has run a radio ad, but he said that it's not negative, but it does focus on Randall's record.

She was joined by Georgia State Senator Miriam Paris, David Cooke who is running for District Attorney. City Council members Larry Schlesinger and Lauren Benedict.

She called for candidates to run on their record.

"We should also be talking how we want to make a difference in the people that we aspire to represent," said Randall. "There is no need for character assassination, name calling and I'll tell you I am a candidate myself and I've been a subject of the most hateful material and radio spots that I have ever seen in my 20 years of political involvement."
