Some local families in Central Georgia are showing their children the traditions of Olympics and getting them in the spirit for the two week event.

Five families in Macon, including the McCurry, Langford, Leigh, Myer, and the Woods families got together to celebrate the start of the games with their own version of the Olympics.

The teams created their own flag and wore colors representing the Olympic rings.

The dads played balloon stomp, while the mothers had to find their kids blindfolded.

With the real championships underway, the families think it's the perfect time to teach their children about the importance of teamwork and the concept of competing.

The teams received medals for their outstanding work at the end of the games.

The London Olympic Games will end on August 12th.
