Monroe Deputy Clerk Charged with Theft

A former deputy clerk has been charged with stealing more than $11,000 from the Monroe County government.

The sheriff's office says Kim Romine, 45, used a county-owned credit card to make payments to personal accounts for cell phone, car insurance and natural-gas charges from November 2010 to earlier this month. The charges totaled $11,325. 

Romine has been charged with multiple counts of theft by taking/breach of fiduciary responsibility. She was fired on July 30 and turned herself in to the jail the next day, the release says.

She has been released on $7,500 bond. 

The investigation continues, according to a news release.
