A 29-year-old Lizella man has been found guilty of the 2009 killing of a Macon convenience store clerk.
The Bibb County District Attorney's Office said Maurice Battle was found guilty Thursday but has not yet been sentenced in the shooting death of Dipak "Danny" Patel.
Battle had been charged with malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
He is one of three people charged in Patel's death at the Riverside Drive Chevron Station near College Street. The other two have already pleaded guilty and are serving prison terms.
District Attorney Greg Winters previously told 13WMAZ that prosecutors originally wanted to seek the death penalty in the case but that option is now off the table.
Two other Macon men, Korey Stephens and Richard Harris, were indicted on murder charges along with Battle. Both men pleaded guilty to murder and have been sentenced to 20 years in prison.
