Verizon Wireless says its customers in and around Macon will soon have faster service.
The company announced Friday that the 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network will expand throughout Macon and into the towns of Cordele, Fort Valley, Hawkinsville and Dublin.
This expansion will occur over the coming weeks, according to a news release.
Central Georgia joins 400 other U.S. markets with the service the company claims is 10 times faster than the most recent network.
The network expansion also affects residents in areas along Interstate 16 and Interstate 75 North of Macon, Cordele and Crisp, U.S. Highway 41, U.S. Highway 280, state Route 300, state Route 90 and Interstate 75.
Verizon says 4G LTE is currently available in Macon, North Macon, Warner Robins, Perry, Byron and Centerville, and at Lake Tobesofkee, Macon Municipal Airport and Robins Air Force Base.
