Gymnastics, one of the most watched sports at the London Olympics, has spiked interest from people who live in Macon. Sportz Quest Director Rachel Foster says she's noticed more people checking the gym out.

From the balance beam to floor exercises, these beginners enrolled at Sportz Quest hope to one day clench gold like the U.S Women's Gymnastics Team.

This sport shined at the London Summer Olympics. Even in Macon, it's peaked interest.

"I brought my three-year-old Maddie to join the gym," says Julie Talbot.

"We have noticed more inquiries, a few more phone calls, a few more people stopping in to check it out," says Foster.

"Parents ask us if we are on the same program to get kids to the Olympics," says Star Washington, a gymnast coach.

Sportz Quest coaches teach gymnasts basic skills to prepare them for an Olympic journey.

"I was watching the olympics and it just inspired me," says nine-year-old Emma Jane Canady.

"It is inspiring. Me being an ex-gymnast im still inspired. Just because gymnastics relates to so many aspects in your life. For me, with school it's discipline," says Washington.

There are four events gymnasts must master: vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor.

"These world class athletes are accomplishing so much under so much pressure. Not only that, they're in high school," says Foster.

Gymnastics Olympians have to be at least 16 to compete, but at the gym, training starts at 18 months.
