About 55,000 people are expected to attend Dragon Con over Labor Day weekend, says Daniel Carroll with Dragon Con Media.

Some of those will be heading to Atlanta from Central Georgia.

Candice Johnson, from Macon, said that this year will be her second Dragon Con. Last year, she said that she didn't dress up.

"It was like I wanted to dress up, but it was too late. I am already here, so maybe next year I will figure out what I want to be and dress up," said Johnson. "It was kind of like, 'man if I would have known I would have worn something.'"

She said this year she is dressing up as Lt. Uhura from Star Trek.

"You don't get to do that everyday I mean if you dress up in a costume Monday through Friday kind of job it would be kind of weird," said Johnson. "It's kind of like you can do things you want to do for these four days."

Emilie Johnson of Bonaire said she will head to Dragon Con for the first time this year. She's putting together her costume as Lugia from Pokemon.

"When I was a little girl I was a big nerd about it, and Lugia was my favorite one," said Emilie Johnson. "When I figured out about this convention stuff, dressing up as characters, I automatically picked--I was like, I want to be him. I can finally be him."

She said that she's looking forward to going to exhibits and meeting other comic book lovers at Dragon Con.

"I've been waiting for this since May, April, so I am just--I love going to conventions, cause it's time to get out of the house get out of the town and meet new people and just dress up and make so many memories from it," said Johnson.

Dragon Con will start on Friday afternoon and end on September 3rd.
