The last holiday weekend of the summer has arrived. Like most people across the country, many Central Georgians got a head start celebrating Labor Day - some of them at Lake Tobesofkee.

"We're celebrating Labor Day, having a good time with family and friends and just enjoying that last bit of warm weather we're having," said Chris Miller.

"Today we're barbecuing," said Gloria Flores from Jackson, "We got some Mexican fajitas to put on the grill, so we just have several different types of food"

At the lake there were several people grilling out on the shores, and cooling off on the water.

My neighbors invited me to come out today," said Cheryl Everett from Byron. "I'm just enjoying myself. I brought my grandkids with me so they can enjoy this holiday. They're cooking and playing in the water, riding boats and skis and just enjoying ourselves."

Kathleen Gibson came all the way from Griffin to soak up some last minute summer fun. She says Labor Day is "absolutely a tremendous holiday for the things we have to be thankful for."

Director of Lake Tobosofkee, Doug Furney, says all shelters and pavilions are booked for tomorrow, but the three public park areas are open for visitors to enjoy.
