Officers from 3 law enforcement agencies were busy overnight Thursday, following 2 chases and 3 robberies.
Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord says Putnam deputies finally took 34-year-old Shawn Hill into custody Friday afternoon.
Swicord says Hill robbed the Jet Foods on S. Wayne Street around 10:30p.m. Thursday, then hit the Golden Pantry on Hancock Street around 2:45 a.m. Friday, before finally going to the Flash Foods on N. Jefferson Street just after 6 a.m. Hill did not use a weapon in any of the robberies.
Police issued a lookout after learning Hill was in a vehicle reported stolen from Putnam County. Baldwin deputies began a chase with Hill around 9 a.m. which ended in a crash. Hill then fled on foot and officers searched for him for 3 hours but came up empty-handed.
Chief Swicord says another vehicle was reported stolen from the search area and they issued a lookout for Putnam County, where Hill was visiting family.
Putnam deputies spotted the stolen vehicle and caught Hill.
Swicord says he is charged with 3 counts of robbery and 1 count of theft by taking auto, but he says more charges are coming.
Hill was out on bond for forgery and a probation violation from an Atlanta area county.
