The driver of a day care bus that overturned during an accident Wednesday morning was cited for failure to yield.

Capt. Billy Mitchell with the Jones County sheriff's department says Anitria Alexander came to a stop at the intersection, then attempted to cross, pulling into the path of a truck.

The Jones County Sheriff's Department says that led to a three-vehicle accident around 7:50 a.m. on Highway 18 east near Morton Road.

The bus belongs  to the Children's Friend Learning Center on Bill Conn Parkway.

Seven children were on board. A Jones County sheriff's captain tells us that the children were shaken up, checked out by medical personnel and sent along to the day care. None were hospitalized.

Children's Friend runs 17 day care centers around Central Georgia, including one on Bill Conn Parkway in Gray.

Company official Tony Foskey said Alexander has worked for the company since 2003 and has a clean driving record.

Foskey said, "We are talking to workers at the Gray location as well as Jones County law enforcement officials to determine what happened."
