A Warner Robins mother killed a fox with a piece of wood Thursday as it bit her child, police say.
Police say the same fox may have bitten another person earlier in the day and may have been rabid.
The first bite happened around 3:10 p.m. on the 100 block of Ridgestone Drive off Feagin Mill Road. There, police say a woman told them she was in her backyard when the fox approached her, bit her on the leg, then ran away.
She was treated at the Houston Medical Center for minor injuries.
About two hours later, the mother reported the second bite on the 100 block of Tranquil Pointe. That's about 500 yards from the first incident.
She said she saw the fox biting her child and killed it with a piece of wood.
The mother and child were both treated at the Medical Center of Central Georgia for minor injuries.
The county health department is testing the fox for rabies.
Although authorities believe the same fox was involved in both cases, they've placed traps in the area as a precaution.
