The man accused of murdering an 87-year-old Macon woman had to be carried into his first court appearance by six officers.
This afternoon at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, 31-year-old Aurie Bonner III struggled with deputies and resisted entering the courtroom.
He appeared to calm down after magistrate judge Barbara Harris spoke to him.
Harris read the murder charge against him and told him that she could not set bond in the case. Bonner waived his right to a commitment hearing to explain the charge.
Bonner's court appearance lasted less than ten minutes.
Macon police on Tuesday charged Bonner with killing Christine Patton Cook.
Cook was found dead in her home on General Lee Drive last Thursday, Oct. 18. According to an autopsy, Cook was smothered.
Bonner remains at the Bibb County Jail. Police say there could be more charges filed in the case.
